Terms of Service
Last updated: April 12, 2026
DebugAI is in open beta
The Service is provided as-is during the beta period. Features, pricing, and availability may change. We appreciate your feedback as we improve the product.
1. Acceptance
By using DebugAI ("the Service") — including the website at debugai.io, the VS Code extension, and related APIs — you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service does
DebugAI is an AI-powered debugging assistant for VS Code. It captures terminal errors, analyzes them using AI, and returns ranked fixes with root cause analysis. The AI analysis is powered by Anthropic's Claude API.
DebugAI does not guarantee that suggested fixes are correct, complete, or appropriate for your specific use case. You are responsible for reviewing and testing any changes before applying them to your codebase.
3. Accounts
You need an account to use the Service. You can sign up via Google, GitHub, or email through Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API key secure. Do not share your API key with others.
4. Free tier and usage limits
- Free tier: 10 debug sessions per day.
- Beta tier: 30 debug sessions per day (manually approved).
- Usage limits reset daily at midnight UTC.
- We reserve the right to modify tier limits with reasonable notice.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to analyze malicious code, malware, or exploit code with intent to harm.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or replicate the AI models or analysis pipeline.
- Share, resell, or redistribute your API key or access to the Service.
- Automate requests beyond normal developer usage (e.g., scripted bulk analysis).
- Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
6. Intellectual property
You retain all rights to your code. DebugAI does not claim ownership of any code you submit or any fixes you apply. The debug request data (error message, code snippet, and where available, names of recently modified files from your git repository) is processed only to provide the Service and is not used for training AI models.
The DebugAI name, logo, website content, and extension code are owned by DebugAI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED FIXES WILL BE CORRECT.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBUGAI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms or for any reason during the beta period with reasonable notice.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
